聚丙烯酰胺是水溶性高分子聚合物，外觀為白色或微黃色粉粒，容易吸水，長(zhǎng)期受熱分解，分解溫度在200℃以上，在無(wú)氧條件下，210℃炭化為黑色粉末。不溶于大多數(shù)有機(jī)溶劑，具有良好的絮凝性，可以降低液體之間的磨擦阻力，離子特性可分為非離子、陰離子、陽(yáng)離子和兩性型四種類(lèi)型。
聚丙烯酰胺是重要的水溶性聚合物，而且兼具絮凝性、增稠性、剪切性、降阻性、分散性等寶貴性能。這些性能隨著衍生物離子的不同而各有側(cè)重。因而在采油、選礦、洗煤、冶金、化工、造紙、紡織、制糖、醫(yī)藥、環(huán)保、建材、農(nóng)業(yè)生產(chǎn)等部門(mén)都有廣泛的使用。
無(wú)機(jī)高分子絮凝劑，主要用于凈化飲用水和給水的特殊水質(zhì)處理，如除鐵、除氟、除鎘、除放射性污染、除漂浮油等；也可用于工作廢水處理，如印染廢水等；還可用于精密鑄造、醫(yī)藥、造紙、制革等，和有機(jī)絮凝劑配合使用效果更佳，處理后水的COD和色度指標(biāo)會(huì)有明顯的改善。
絮凝性：PAM能使懸浮物質(zhì)通過(guò)電中和，架橋吸附作用，起絮凝作用。
粘合性：能通過(guò)機(jī)械的、物理的、化學(xué)的作用，起粘合作用。
降阻性：PAM能有效地降低流體的摩擦阻力，水中加入微量PAM就能降阻50—80%。
增稠性：PAM在中性和酸條件下均有增稠作用，當(dāng)PH值在10℃以上PAM易水解。
吸附架橋：PAM分子鏈固定在不同的顆粒表面上，各顆粒之間形成聚合物的橋，使顆粒形成聚集體而沉降。
表面吸附：PAM分子上的極性基團(tuán)顆粒的各種吸附。

非離子聚丙烯酰胺系列產(chǎn)品是具有高分子量的低離子度的線性高聚物。由于其具有特殊的基團(tuán)，便賦予它具有絮凝、分散、增稠、粘結(jié)、成膜、凝膠、穩(wěn)定膠體的作用。污水處理劑：當(dāng)懸浮性污水顯酸性時(shí)，采用非離子聚丙烯酰胺作絮凝劑較為合適。這時(shí)聚丙烯酰胺起吸附架橋作用，使懸浮的粒子產(chǎn)生絮凝沉淀，達(dá)到凈化污水的目的。聚丙烯酰胺用于自來(lái)水的凈化，尤其是和無(wú)機(jī)絮凝劑配合使用，在水處理中效果最佳。非離子聚丙烯酰胺用于工業(yè)廢水處理，鋼廠廢水處理，冶金廢水處理，洗煤廢水處理；用于石油工業(yè)采油、鉆井泥漿處理；用于紡織上漿；用于造紙行業(yè)、食品行業(yè)、茶葉包裝紙?zhí)幚怼?/p>

1、絮團(tuán)的大小：絮團(tuán)太小會(huì)影響排水的速度，絮團(tuán)太大會(huì)使絮團(tuán)約束較多水而降低泥餅干度。經(jīng)過(guò)選擇聚丙烯酰胺的分子量能夠調(diào)整絮團(tuán)的大小。
2、污泥特性：第一點(diǎn)理解污泥的來(lái)源，特性以及成分，所占比重。依據(jù)性質(zhì)的不同，污泥可分為有機(jī)和無(wú)機(jī)污泥兩種。陽(yáng)離子聚丙烯酰胺用于處置有機(jī)污泥，相對(duì)的陰離子聚丙烯酰胺絮凝劑用于無(wú)機(jī)污泥，堿性很強(qiáng)時(shí)用陽(yáng)離子聚丙烯酰胺，而酸性很強(qiáng)時(shí)不宜用陰離子聚丙烯酰胺，固含量高時(shí)污泥通常聚丙烯酰胺的用量也大。
3、絮團(tuán)強(qiáng)度：絮團(tuán)在剪切作用下應(yīng)堅(jiān)持穩(wěn)定而不破碎。進(jìn)步聚丙烯酰胺分子量或者選擇適宜的分子構(gòu)造有助于進(jìn)步絮團(tuán)穩(wěn)定性。
4、聚丙烯酰胺的離子度：針對(duì)脫水的污泥，可用不同離子度的絮凝劑經(jīng)過(guò)先做小試進(jìn)行挑選，選出最佳適宜的聚丙烯酰胺，這樣即能夠獲得最佳絮凝劑效果，又可使加藥量最少，節(jié)約本錢(qián)。
5、聚丙烯酰胺的溶解：溶解良好才能充分發(fā)揮絮凝作用。有時(shí)需求加快溶解速度，這時(shí)可思索進(jìn)步聚丙烯酰胺溶液的濃度。
